‘La Serre’ in Langwarrin South is creative, fun and eclectic.
Colin Hyett’s amazing property features serpent-like paths, a natural ballroom, a chicken coop with a twist, a tepee-style cubby house … it has something for everyone.
This ‘Palm Springs meets Mornington Peninsula’ property with over 1.5 hectares of gravel gardens, succulents, indigenous plants and large sculptures is an exciting garden to visit.
The owner, Colin Hyett, has a background in Fine Arts. Unlike many landscape designers, his inspirations are derived from artists he loves, incorporating modern design – tradition is definitely not for him. All Colin’s gardens focus on modern designs using drought-tolerant, sustainable plants.
There is a wonderful sense of theatre at play that takes its edge from the perfect balance between the neatly clipped and the rambling. The unique home on the property will take your breath away with Colin’s keen eye for exceptional design, masterfully set off by desert-themed art pieces conspiring to ignite the soul. Viewing of the house is by appointment.
Sculptures by the artist Robert Delves will also be featured on the property for the Open Garden Day.
