Bubble wrap seed snails
Brought to you by Jane Byrne our Kids’ Corner Contributor
Bubble wrap seed snails? Sounds weird but this method of sewing seeds is great for the winter months. If you have wanted to sew seeds, the bubble wrap seed snail method is perfect! The Bubble wrap keeps your seeds warm and can be done indoors. You don’t have to stick to just one herb. This method allows you to start growing many different herbs simultaneously. Make sure you label your bubble wrap snails so you know what’s growing.
What you will need:
Bubble wrap
Cello tape
Propagation seed raising mix.
Spray bottle
Seeds
Instructions
Using a long piece of recycled bubble wrap, spread out some propagation mix soil. Place the seeds in the middle of the soil. Fold over the long length of bubble wrap to secure the soil so you can easily roll up the bubble wrap.
Roll up the bubble wrap and secure the end with tape or even recycled rubber bands. Add a few holes in the bottom so that the water can drain. Spray with water. Place in a warm sunny position.
We would love to see what you do. Don’t forget to send in your photos to operations@opengardensvictoria.org.au
