A Boston Ivy covered wall on the streetscape, hides this hidden gem of a refurbished 1950’s house and garden. The main gates slide open to create a sculptural wall feature with diamond pattern that is repeated throughout the house in the leadlight windows.
The stunning entrance is dominated by a spectacular ‘barn silhouette’ carport with a soaring roof, clever hidden storage and sculptural light fixtures by Mance Studio.
The front garden is a fine example of shady garden plantings with graceful Japanese Elms in green and red framing the window views out to Clivia, Star Jasmine and Forest Pansy.
Two established Celtis occidentalis dominate the side garden, providing relief from the westerly sun. Travertine pathways lead to the front door and along the side of the house under arching Japanese Maples and past a raised scented garden with climbing plants reaching across decorative mosaic tiles.
The rear entertaining area features a built in BBQ and pizza oven with neatly arranged wood beneath a Virginia Creeper covered pergola, providing dappled shade in summer. The original pool has been given a total makeover with Travertine tiles and pavers in and around the pool, which is surrounded by two species of Magnolia & a white Crepe Myrtle providing protection from neighbouring properties.
This garden was designed by Eckersley Garden Architecture.
Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to CB4BC - Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer.
