Nestled just 12 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD in Bellfield, Farm Raiser is a vibrant urban farm that balances productivity with agricultural charm. Lush vegetable beds burst with seasonal produce, surrounded by flowering plants that attract bees and butterflies, creating a lively, picturesque green space in an urban setting. Visitors are invited to explore all the different vegetables and see medium scale agriculture in action.
Beyond its visual appeal, Farm Raiser is a place of purpose and connection. It plays a vital role in local food security through its food relief program, ensuring dignified access to nutritious food for those in need. The farm is also a hub of learning, providing vocational training and hands-on experiences for students of the neighbouring Waratah Special Developmental School. A visit to Farm Raiser is a chance to see firsthand how urban agriculture can nurture both the land and the people it feeds.
There will be newly planted spring and summer veggies and the first flowers of spring blooming at the time of this opening.
Please note: public toilets are 220m walk from the garden, next to the Bellfield Community Garden.
Right next door is the Bellfield Community Garden and the entry fee also includes this garden.
Farm Raiser is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri People. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
