Forest Edge, in the heart of the historic gold mining town of Blackwood, is a quintessential rural woodland garden on 2.5 acres overlooking the Wombat State Forest.
It features a wide range of trees including a 160-year-old Irish Strawberry and a weeping elm of a similar age and younger specimens including, Wollemi Pines, conifers, varieties of Acer and a range of other deciduous trees. There is also a wide range of native, exotic and rare trees and plants enjoying the cool climate.
The garden will be bursting with spring colour, including a range of bulbs, both Japanese and Dutch iris, roses and hydrangeas, peonies and many flowering shrubs. There is a varied colour range of Penstemon, Salvia, Clematis and Rock Roses, along with flowering trees and many varieties of Buddleia.
The property transitions seamlessly into the borrowed landscape of the Wombat State Forest and is accessible with gravel paths and ramps.
Enjoy Devonshire tea and some garden related stalls with easy access to great food and a specialist hat shop in the town.
Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to Wild Life Victoria.
