Great Gardens Australia Talk with Richard Allen and Kimbal Baker

  • Melbourne University Burnley Campus 500 Yarra Boulevard Richmond, Victoria, 3121 Australia (map)

Join us for an evening with writer Richard Allen and photographer Kimbal Baker, who have spent the past year visiting 30 of Australia’s most striking gardens, travelling to each Australian state and territory. Their 12th book together, Great Gardens Australia (Melbourne University Publishing) takes a stunning visual journey through this selection of exquisite private and public gardens.

From the humidity of the tropical north and the searingly hot interior, to the cooler temperate south, Australia’s local climates have inspired gardens as diverse as the continent itself. The 30 gardens highlight the vision, adaptability and ingenuity of the people who both created them and tend them today. Showcasing a range of gardens from those in tropical Darwin and Far North Queensland, to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales and the European-style gardens that populate the cooler hill stations of Victoria and South Australia, Great Gardens Australia features Richard Allen’s insightful commentary and more than four hundred of Kimbal Baker’s evocative photographs.

This event is sure to be an evening of interesting insights and lively discussion - Don’t miss out!
