Little Steading

CANCELLED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

If you have pre-purchased a ticket via TryBooking, we will be in contact with you to arrange a refund.

Little Steading is a naturalistic tranquil spring cottage garden with glimpses of Western Port Bay and Seal Rocks in a rural pastural setting.

Upon entering the property it's noticeable the amount of hardwork and passion that has been invested into creating this extraordinary garden. It's a wild cottage garden with more formal areas.

It features a structured pool garden that is bordered by hydrangeas, Silver Birch copse and spring bulbs. This stunning part of the garden runs alongside the Main Ridge Nature Reserve.

This garden also encompasses a glass house, herb garden, a plantsman’s garden with hidden treasures, Itoh peonies, hellebores, hostas, Chatham forget-me-nots, bamboo iris, Japanese roof iris and delphiniums to name a few. You'll also find a Clematis montana alba covered pergola.

This garden is stunning in spring! There'll be plant stalls, talks, tours and a coffee van at this opening. Some of the proceeds from this garden opening will be donated to Very Special Kids. The nearest toilet is at the Nordie Café in Red Hill.

Please note: Little Steading is next to the Main Ridge Nature Reserve, off Mornington–Flinders Rd. If using Apple Maps please choose the address listing - 69 Barkers Rd Main Ridge.

Little Steading is located on the lands of the Bunurong People. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
