Talking Garden Design

  • 35 Johnston Street Collingwood, VIC, 3066 Australia (map)

EVENT SOLD OUT!

Join us for an inspiring evening at Collingwood Yards with special guests Tim Pilgrim and Peter Shaw, known for their innovative and sustainable landscapes that blend naturalistic planting with modern design.

With a shared passion for ecological integrity and visual harmony, Tim and Peter craft outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and biodiverse. Their work often features layered textures, native plant palettes, and a strong connection to place — reflecting a deep respect for the environment.

Tim Pilgrim is a Central Victoria-based garden designer and founder of TP Gardens, celebrated for his naturalistic, plant-driven landscapes that blend traditional and contemporary elements. His designs draw inspiration from the 'New Perennial' movement, emphasizing layered textures, seasonal interest, and a harmonious connection to the surrounding environment. Pilgrim's work has been featured in prominent publications such as Country Style, Australian House & Garden, and The Design Files. His gardens are known for their immersive quality, combining edible and ornamental plantings, and are tailored to thrive in Australia's diverse climates (photo of Tim above has been taken by Martina Gemmola).

Peter Shaw is the founder and creative director of Ocean Road Landscaping, an award-winning design and construction firm based in Anglesea, Victoria. Since 1995, he has been creating environmentally sensitive gardens that harmonize with the coastal landscapes of the Great Ocean Road, Geelong, and the Surf Coast. Known for his "take notice" approach, Shaw emphasizes working with nature to design gardens that belong to their environment . He is also the author of Soulscape: Connecting Gardens to Landscape, a book that showcases ten gardens along Victoria's coast, illustrating how thoughtful design can integrate seamlessly with the natural landscape.

The conversation will be facilitated by Michael McCoy, a respected garden designer, author, and host of ABC TV’s Dream Gardens. Renowned for his deep horticultural knowledge and engaging storytelling, Michael brings a thoughtful and insightful perspective to the world of garden design.

Don’t miss this opportunity to delve into the creative minds shaping the future of Australian landscape design!

Books by each of the speakers will be available for sale after the event.
