My Valley Garden, Coral Bank (In the Kiewa Valley)

  • My Valley Garden 124 Redbank Mongans Road Coral Bank, VIC, 3691 Australia (map)

Set in the heart of the Kiewa Valley, in the quiet rural community of Coral Bank, My Valley Garden is a place of peace and tranquility. With views towards the Victorian Alps and bordering Wallaby Creek, this thoughtfully created five-acre garden invites visitors into a space shaped over 35 years by owner Wendy McCracken.

What began as an empty paddock has grown into a beautiful country garden of winding paths, stone walls and carefully planned plantings. Majestic oaks line the driveway, while ornamental trees, orchards and seasonal borders fill the space. In spring, the garden reaches its floral peak: roses, foxgloves, mollis azaleas and sweet peas bloom in abundance as deciduous trees come fully into leaf and the vegetable garden awakens with new life and summer plantings.

Visitors are encouraged to wander at their own pace and explore the Pond Garden, the Grape Pergola, the Pear Garden, the Circle Garden, the Cubby Walk and Nelson’s Point, named for a beloved dog’s favourite spot overlooking the creek. After clearing out the blackberries, Wendy has encouraged indigenous plants to return to the creek area, including maiden and tree ferns, native orchids and grasses.

A recent additional is Wendy’s dream vegetable and cut-flower patch on the south side of the garden.
Just across the road, the Kiewa River flows, providing a gentle murmur that drifts across the garden, creating a natural soundtrack that contributes to the overall sense of calm.

There will be a plant sale, and tea and coffee will be available for purchase. Toilets are available on premises for use.

My Valley Garden is located on the lands of the Mullindolingong People. Open Gardens Victoria wishes to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land, and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
