Graceburn

  • 29 Hutchinson Court, Drysdale Vic 3222 (map)

With a strong emphasis on local indigenous species and sustainability, this is pragmatically created, and predominantly native garden located in Drysdale on the Bellarine Peninsula.

The owners of this property have transformed what was five barren horse paddocks into the native wildlife habitat that they call home. It's been a 19 year journey.

Indigenous and native plantings have been designed in a way to encourage wildlife and create privacy.

This garden boasts a myriad of features including a natural swimming pool, aquatic garden and DIY hot tub. There's a rustic rammed earth entertaining area and a large productive garden hosting 80 odd fruit trees including multiple varieties of apples, figs, cherries, hazelnuts. There are cut flowers and a variety of bush tucker plantings, and bees and chickens are also kept in this garden.

Landscape designer, Sam Cox, designed the natural swimming pools and enclosed garden.

There will be Bellarine Landcare plants for sale and an information trailer on site with local plant experts available to answer any questions. Some of the proceeds from this opening will be donated to Bellarine Landcare.

We are also opening Red Gums in Drysdale over this same weekend.

Graceburn is located on the lands of the Wadawurrung People. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Extra activities in the area:

  • The Bellarine Peninsula has a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, wineries, shopping areas, nature trails and historical sites.

  • The Whiskery

  • Bellarine Farmgate
